DAKAR 2012
January 1, 2012 is the beginning of a grueling road competition pitting Quads, Motorcycles, Cars, and Trucks against each other in the 33rd annual Dakar Rally that takes riders through 3 countries: Peru, Argentina, and Chile. The route covers almost 5,500 miles over a period of 14 days. The rally begins in Mar Del Plata and winds its way through extremely diverse terrain, including the Andes Mountain Range and the dunes of Peru.
LS2 Helmets has put together a team of 22 riders from 4 countries in the motorcycle and quad categories. LS2 continues to add top riders in this event and they are proud to have signed an agreement with the Patronelli brothers for this year’s race. A special Limited Edition LS2 Helmet has been designed for the team for this event (see it below). Tomas Maffei, who raced his first Dakar last year, winning two stages, and ending in 7th place will also be wearing an LS2 MX442 Helmet this year.
This helmet is the MX442. It’s a fiberglass helmet and weighs a mere 1250 grams! The helmet is ECE rated. It has an interior designed to undergo the most extreme weathers and provide the comfort the riders need.
